 Product Description

The evaporative condenser condenses a refrigerant gas from agaseous to a liquid state. As the refrigerant gas flows through a coil from top to bottom sprayed with water and countercurrent air, it condenses and changes phase. Medium to large refrigeration systems are usually water-cooled, especially if they use ammonia as a refrigerant.

 Advantages of evaporative condensers

Low investment costs:

Evaporative condensers combine a cooling tower with an evaporative condenser surface including pump and pipe system in a single unit.

Low operating costs:

Evaporative condensers have comparatively low operating costs: they require only low refrigerant liquefaction, which not only saves costs but also reduces the environmental impact. Due to the low condensing temperature, an extremely compact and energy-efficient compressor is sufficient, which reduces energy consumption by up to 15% compared to conventional compressors. In addition, these units evaporate only a fraction of the water when the refrigerant is liquefied in the tube bundle. This saves up to 95% water compared to continuous evaporation systems.

Space saving:

The evaporative condensers are extremely compact and require only about half the space of comparable air-cooled systems.

 Evaporative condenser operation


The refrigerant to be condensed enters the upper collector of the coil. This is constantly moistened with water that recirculates in the evaporative circuit of the equipment.



The evaporation of a fraction of water in recirculation removes the heat from the exchange surface of the coil. The yield will depend on the ambient temperature of the wet bulb.
